To check whether Alfresco is effectively writing to the desired contentstore one could temporarily enable debug logging. This can be done by adding the line “log4j.logger.eu.xenit.alfresco.swarm=debug” or/and “ log4j.logger.eu.xenit.alfred.objectstorage.s3”=debug in tomcat/webapps/alfresco/WEB-INF/classes/log4j.properties. Start Alfresco (in the log file you will notice that it is creating its initial files with a ‘swarm://’ contentUrl for the Swarm connector).
Alfresco Enterprise customers can accomplish the same result without restarting Alfresco using the JMX console.
